take me to the beach | closed to [personal profile] captain_jtkirk

[Things are going really well between Carol, Jim, and Dorothy. On Tuesday, breakfast goes peacefully, Jim doesn't do that horrible of a job dressing Dorothy (although Carol has to redo her hair because jesus), and he stays long enough to see his daughter in her tutu. Like always, she was precious. Then he leaves to do his plans for the night and shows back up at her house at 3 am, singing a Queen song and smelling like whiskey and saltines (which means that he was with Bones and Spock). The following Wednesday and Thursday pass like a blur; Carol and Jim have another three "talks", Jim spends more time with his daughter, and he gets put in jail by Sheriff Dorothy for a billion years, "or until I, um, finish my... my sandwich." She's merciful enough to allow Deputy Carol to bring some food to the prisoner.

It's Friday morning, and it's going to be sunny and cloudless all day. During breakfast, Dorothy slyly says that she wants to go to the beach (as in she said, "Mommy, I want to go to the beach!"). So, off they go.

Carol can feel the warm sand through her sandals and a strong sea breeze almost blows her floppy hat off. With a hand holding the hat down, her eyes follow Dorothy and George scamper off to the crashing waves.]
Don't go too far, Dorothy! Wait for us!

[She's really glad she's wearing a loose sweater right now, because otherwise, she'd have deep, red marks on her shoulders from the weight of the bags, filled with sandwiches, drinks, diapers, and toys. As they reach a clean, nice spot with an umbrella, Carol makes sure to keep her gaze on the short, yellow target, who is now chasing a seagull. The bags fall off her shoulders onto the shaded sand as she tips her dark sunglasses down to peek at Jim;] Do you want to take the first shift? [As in, "do you want to chase after Dorothy right now?"]
